Soap Decorating
Just making a plain soap isn’t the end. Just imagine; won’t a plain soap look boring in your washroom? So, you need to enhance it by adding some decorations. It can be adding a little glitter that adds sparkle; for example, green and red glitters go well with the soap gifted as a Christmas gift. Use your imagination to create some beautiful soaps. It’s not just about mixing decorating additives in the soap; you can also play with the soap mixture. For example, the texture and layers of thick soap can be manipulated, or it can be piped to create unique shapes. Similarly, spin swirl can be created within the soap mold. The possibilities are endless.
Here’s what you can do:
Dried flowers
Dried flowers add an extra visual and make soaps look exclusive. It’s best to add flowers after the soap has been made, rather than in the base of soap, as that will discolor the flowers and they gradually turn dull, which doesn’t look attractive. This applies to both cold-process soap and melt and pour soap.
If you want the base of soap to look attractive, then add petals directly in it like calendula petals. These petals really do look good.
Seeds and peels
Seeds like poppy seeds and citrus fruit slices really look stunning on top of the soap.
Swirl
Make a swirl pattern in the layers of soap.
You can mix together more than one color soap in the soapmaking pot and then pour the mixture into the mold(s) after making swirls. Play with different colored soaps to create fanciful swirled effects.
Chopsticks or a fork perfect tools to create them; use them to change the direction of swirls in various patterns.
Stripes:
To create stripes in the soap, pour layers of varying colors of soap directly on top of one another. The thickness of each layer will depend on the amount of soap poured in the mold.
Confetti:
This decoration is created by grating a fresh soap and then adding these bits to a different colored soap base as soon as it reaches a medium trace. Make sure to use a cheese grater of regular size and that soap bits contrast nicely with the base color. It is also important to make sure that soap bits are at room temperature, not cold, or that can cause white blotches to appear in the base. The soap bits can also be multicolored and of varying sizes and shapes.
